A Letter from the Editor: Spring Break Must-Haves
It’s that time of the year when most people are vitamin D deprived, done skiing, and ready for early sun-setting nights to come to an end. Although the spring equinox has come and gone on the calendar, it may not look like it outside your window.
As a mompreneur, wife, Girl Scouts leader, etc. I, as well as many others, are ready to overcome the cold weather woes and pack up and head to the nearest (sometimes the furthest) beach possible. Whether or not you have young children or you're just prepping fora much-needed vacation, I want to share my favorite vacation must-haves.
1. Casual (yet fashionable) Sandal
I will always travel with a pair of Converse and pair them with everything, BUT not everyone is comfortable doing that, so for everyone else bring a casual (yet fashionable) practical sandal. A pair that can be worn with a basic tee and shorts during the day and then a midi dress for dinner in the evening.
Hudson Shoes Canvas Espadrille
$22.00 available at Grethen House
Good Girl Gone Rad Tee
$9.97 available at Nordstrom Rack
3. Midi Dress
The midi is a classic dress that has now become the latest trend. Being a multiuse dress, the perfect midi dress will allow you to seamlessly wear it to the beach and to dinner. You will be killing two birds with one stone and you’ll save room in your luggage for the little trinkets that you find on your walk through town.
Chan Luu Black "Savannah" Dress
$370.00 available at Queen Anna House of Fashion
4. Crossbody Bag
It is an absolute necessity to have a beach bag with your hat, sunscreen, water bottle, a backup charger and the latest issue of Vogue Magazine. A small chic crossbody bag allows you to bring your evening essentials with you in the evening, allowing your hands to remain free for that perfect selfie in the sunset.
SIDEKICK CROSSBODY CIRCLE BAG
$75.00 available at ONYXBAN.DO
ABLE Black "Menbere" Foldover Bag
$148.00 Available at Queen Anna House of Fashion
5. Hat
A hat to cover your face is an ABSOLUTE must have! One thing you should always be conscious of is your skin and the amount of sun exposure you get. You still want to wear sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from overexposure.
Vacation hats don't always have to be the oversized and floppy (which can still be cute and very appropriate), but I am always one to push the envelope a little. Try a baseball cap that you don't mind getting wet and sandy that will cover your face (and possibly a bad hair day!) with extreme swag.
$17.99 Available at Target
Last but not least, enjoy yourself and come back to the real world refreshed and ready to dig into the emails that piled up while you were away!
Enjoy and safe travels!
